NEW GENERATION Baby Night Lights for kids, Lizber Starry Night Light Rotating Moon Stars Projector
In "Lamp Mode" with the dome on

The Basics: This star night light is just under 6"x6"x6", is lightweight, has a removable dome so that it can be a projector or a lamp.  This has three buttons: the "A" button turns on/off a white light which will project white stars into the ceiling or the dome; the "B" buttons will turn on a red, blue, or green light if you keep on pushing the button it will cycle through all of the combinations of those colors until it has all the lights twinkling on or off; the "C" button will cause the projector to rotate around.  This night light comes with a USB cord rather than a power cord, I guess for those people who want to work on their computer by synthetic starlight.  We bought a USB adapter as we do not have spare laptops laying around to power night lights.

The Good: This is a decent night light for the price and both of my kids have been impressed with it for about a year now, so I can say that kids from 6 mos-4 years love it.  The stars have good detail up to five feet away and even up to ten feet away they are still recognizable.  At first you may feel some vertigo watching stars slowly spin around the room, but after a few nights that will pass, and for what it's worth only about 50% of adults have felt this and none of the kids who have seen it have complained of dizziness.

The Bad: The plastic that the lights shine through is very lightweight and it has gotten dented by having small fingers push on it.  The good news is that it also has a tendency to come unscrewed when the dome is being removed, and while it is easy to screw back on, it is a little annoying (this does let me easily remove the dents, though).  My daughter likes to have the projector spin, and for the first two days it spun relatively quietly, then it began to make a grinding sound which just got louder and louder for about a week before it plateaued.  My daughter thinks of this now as white noise but it still bugs me, even a year later.  The biggest con, though, is that after a year of use every night, the USB cord stopped working!  There are no replacement USB cords readily available, and after spending time trying various cords at Office Depot and Radio Shack, we are resigned to buying a new one.  We tried using four AAA batteries instead of the power cord, but it needs new batteries every two nights which is just not sustainable.  We will be buying a different brand, so stay tuned for that review in a year or so.

Very pretty

Bottom Line: Will delight children for a year, but it is loud and will start to break down after that.
